The conflict I researched was between South Korea, US and North Korea. The issue is that South Korea and the US dismissed North Korea's peace talks proposal because the conference wasn't a six-nation disarmament talk and because North Korea failed to meet the demand of dismantling its nuclear weapons program before holding the conference. To break it down, there were many sources to this conflict. However, probably the main source of this conflict was the issue of denuclearization because the North isn't responding to the demand from the US and the South. The relationship and the history that exists between the 2 Koreas aren't so bright. During the 1950s, there was a Korean War between the North and the South Koreans which 'lasted' for about 3 years, but officially continues on unitl this day as a truce. Ever since then, there have been numerous attempts to terminate the war completely, but most of them failed due to disagreements and clashed opinions. To add on to the matter, North Korea recently has tested nuclear weaponry and some ballistic missiles. Currently, there isn't a clear solution to this matter but unless North Korea meets the demands of the South and the US by dismantling its nuclear weapons program, it is clear that the conference will be held.
I chose this piece of conflict article to write about because I am South Korean and the outcome of this conflict will affect my life in various ways. The biggest affect this conflict will implict on my life would be on my future. If the 2 Koreas unite and become one, there would be a surge of confusion amongst the people in Korea and in my life because the styles and cultures of the North and South are quite different. However behalf on the confusion, there would also be positive sides to it; like more job opportunities and peace across the peninsula.
